Local product and fabric has been getting more and more exposure in the commercial fashion scene in Nepal these days. Of the many fantastic fabrics produced in Nepal, my Superwoman-my mum-takes promotes Nepali Dhaka in particular, in her clothing line-Muku.
A meter of this exclusive handwoven beauty takes a weaver working seven hours a day, almost 3-4 days to complete!
Natural fiber, empowering traditional weavers, designed my mum, warm to wear during cold bhoj season, and divine to look at-no wonder my sister and I were all smiles to be donning dhaka infused ensembles at the last function I attended in Nepal!

In fact, we had a tripling thing going!

Paired it with a monochrome kurta and trouser set in gold. Dhoti pants could just be my new favorite type of pants!

Out of habit, or perhaps even choice, we look into the international fashion scene for style inspiration-absolutely nothing wrong with that. But sometimes it can be enlightening to bring our sights back to our own roots, at the amazing range of fabrics Nepal has to offer as it's own. If you are inspired at all to explore more of #NepaliFashion, feel free to look up Muku-Better when it's on you on Facebook or muku_boutique on Instagram for exclusive handwoven fabric, design and more!
